What is static caravan transport?

Static caravan transport is the specialist haulage of a static caravan, lodge or mobile home from one site to another. Because these units are far larger than a touring caravan - typically 10 to 45ft long and up to 22ft wide for a twin-unit - they are moved on dedicated low-loader or self-propelled transporters by drivers trained in oversized and abnormal-load haulage.

A move can be as simple as shifting a single-unit caravan to the pitch next door, or as involved as splitting a twin-unit lodge into two halves, notifying the police and highways authorities, running escort vehicles, and re-siting and reconnecting the caravan at the far end. Whatever the job, the goal is the same: get your caravan to its new home undamaged, on time and without you having to coordinate the logistics yourself.

We handle the whole chain - disconnection, transport, abnormal-load paperwork and re-siting - across England, Scotland and Wales. If you only need part of that, tell us and we will quote transport-only or a full door-to-door move.

How much does static caravan transport cost?

Static caravan transport is priced on distance, the size of the unit and the access at each end. A short single-unit move locally can start from a few hundred pounds; a long-distance twin-unit move that needs splitting, an escort vehicle and a wide-load notification can run to a thousand pounds or more.

The main factors that move the price are:

  • Distance - most of the cost is mileage between the two sites.
  • Size and width - single units are cheaper than wide twin-units that need an escort.
  • Access - tight pitches, soft ground or a crane lift add time and equipment.
  • Extras - disconnection, re-siting and reconnection if you want a full service.

Static Caravan Transport FAQs

How much does static caravan transport cost?+

Transport is priced by the mile plus the size of the unit and the access at each end. Short local single-unit moves typically start from a few hundred pounds, while long-distance twin-unit moves that need an escort and a wide-load notification can run to a thousand pounds or more. Disconnection, re-siting and craneage are added where required. Send your from and to postcodes plus the caravan size for an exact quote.

How wide a static caravan can you transport?+

We move single-unit static caravans (typically up to around 12ft wide) and twin-unit / lodge structures (up to around 22ft wide) that are split and moved in two halves. Anything over 9ft 5in (2.9m) wide is an abnormal load, so we handle the police and highways notifications and provide escort vehicles where the law requires them.

Do you disconnect and reconnect the caravan?+

Yes. We can disconnect the caravan at the departure park, transport it, and re-site, level and reconnect it at the destination. Let us know whether you need a full door-to-door service or transport only and we will quote accordingly.

Do I need planning permission to move or site a static caravan?+

Moving the caravan itself does not require planning permission, but siting one on private land often does. Holiday parks handle their own site licensing. Read our static caravan planning permission guide before you commit to a destination.

How far in advance should I book?+

Two to four weeks is ideal, especially in spring and summer when parks are busiest and abnormal-load moves need notice for escorts and notifications. We can often accommodate shorter timescales - get in touch and we will tell you the earliest available date.

Are you insured?+

Yes. Every move is covered by goods-in-transit and public liability insurance, and our drivers comply with all UK transport and abnormal-load regulations.
